Reporting to the foundation’s director, the role is to lead/liaise with multi-discipline fabrication team for the execution of the MPs, TPs, Jackets and Pin Piles within the GWSHI, Dajin and CFHI Fabrication facilities.  
Main Responsibilities
  • Understanding of the end-to-end fabrication process and being a subject matter expert (SME) with fabrication experience in all areas for the Monopile, Transition Piece, Pin Pile and Jacket fabrication scopes
  • Support the Project Team by taking direct responsibility for managing key elements of the project.
  • Act as technical point of contact for several of the technical packages (across foundation / transmission / turbine).
  • Provide advice and expertise to other team members and support the Package Director in decision making and optioneering
  • Provide direction to the engineering teams to ensure effective and efficient engineering and technical delivery, including oversight and management of change for technical items on the project.
  • Working alongside the contract and package managers to actively challenge deliverables from contractors and ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of deviation from the requirements.
  • Modelling within the package of optimal solutions and analysis of the fabrication progress (financial / technical etc.)
  • Be fully informed of industry issues which may impact on the project and ensure that this information feeds into the decision-making process.  
  • Leading on assessment/delivery of innovation ideas/solutions generated within the project team.
  • Ensure a strong HSE focus within the team including risk identification and control. Demonstrate leadership in safety and proactively minimise risk and enhance the safety culture throughout ICOL and subcontractors
  • Closely monitor fabricator’s activities taking corrective action as necessary, in coordination and agreement with package and contract managers, ensuring that these are carried out according to best practice and in compliance with project HSE objectives.
  • Monitor the implementation of fabrication related changes, which are being requested within the Change Management Process.
  • Support the overall process towards fabricators, including responding to clarifications, queries, and input into fabrication contract documentation to benefit the management and performance of the contract.
  • Maintain progress tracking of the schedule and advise management team of progress against agreed schedules and advising of steps to optimise
  • Monitor Planned versus Actual resource levels and ensure construction contractors and subcontractors have adequate resources to do the job, that equipment is in a safe working condition and that permits and/or equipment certificates are available.
  • Ensure project documentation is completed in a satisfactory and timely manner including material inspection reports and certifications.

  • Proactive, and able to identify issues before they occur

Experience/Knowledge
  • Minimum five years onsite fabrication experience in a leadership role
  • Minimum five years' experience in the offshore wind, or similar industry
  • Good level of understanding on both practical and theoretical side of welding
  • Managing an onsite team to deliver a fabrication scope
  • Serial fabrication of steel work
  • Experience of installing electrical systems to fabricated structures
  • Experience of electrical commissioning
  • Experience of steel reinforced concrete fabrication

Qualifications
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree
