Our client is an independent fund manager with ambitious growth plans, driven by new fundraising efforts. They are seeking a mid to senior level professional to join their Energy Investment team. This role will focus on originating and executing deals in the energy transition sector across various technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background dealing with energy investment processes, fund management, independent power producers and/or banking. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Originate new investment opportunities within the energy transition sector.
  • Screen potential investments through qualitative research, financial modeling, and credit risk analysis.
  • Lead the execution of investments and oversee due diligence processes.
  • Identify and drive the fundraising of new energy-focused funds.
  • Build and assess financial models to accurately value investment opportunities.
  • Prepare investment papers, highlighting key risks, mitigations, and investment recommendations.
  • Negotiate legal documentation for investments and make critical commercial decisions.
  • Liaise with internal and external advisors to ensure smooth deal execution.
  • Maintain high standards of compliance throughout transactions, in line with regulatory and client obligations.
  • Support the wider Energy Team in achieving strategic goals.
  • Maintain regular communication with the board, brokers, and stakeholders on deal progress.
  • Assist with research, accounting, and operational aspects of the fund’s day-to-day business.
  • Ensure a seamless transition of assets to the Portfolio Management team post-investment.
  • Take board positions on investee companies as required.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts and engage with investors alongside senior leadership

Candidate Profile

  • 6–12 years of deal experience in the energy transition sector.
  • Experience in both debt and equity transactions preferred.
  • Prior investment experience in Europe preferred.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of driving deals independently.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative investment ideas.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • High level of professionalism, ethical conduct, and commitment to quality.
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on additional responsibilities as required.
