Our client is looking for a System Network Design Manager you will lead the management of the power system modelling for the business network, modelling of customer connections and model management when engaging with the Electricity System Operator and other regulated bodies with regard to system network changes and their governance. The System Network Design Manager is a senior manager who will report to the Director of Engineering and Customer Connections. This role has a key co-ordination component with Customer Connections, Grid & Regulation, Engineering and the businesses project teams to provide the understanding of the system network capability, power system model governance in addition to liaison with external regulated bodies such as the ESO.
 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the ongoing System Network Design engagement from connection to completion being the key department contact for initial project concept design, manage system design network changes, compliance changes and manage the modelling of unplanned events such as faults post energisation
  • Manage the business’ System Model governance with regard to system changes and model revisions
  • Manage the power system software requirements for all system studies and provide models/data to regulated bodies and customers where required
  • Ensure compliance with the ESO system requirements such as the grid code Manage the power system studies to understand the requirements for a customer connection, support the Customer Connection Manager with the technical system elements to complete contracts
  • Upon engagement with other key functions such as grid and regulation drive policy change to improve power system model management and drive efficiency with new or amended System Network Design policy
  • Support the Director of Engineering and Customer connections to drive improvement, support reporting and promote the business objectives to the wider team
  • Have accountability for the power system model management and team reporting to the Director of Engineering and Customer Connections
  • Take a proactive approach to meet programme deadlines co-ordinating with other departments when required
  • Accurately report progress each month for System Network Design, including key activities linked to delivery and risk management
  • Take a positive and highly visible lead in developing relationships with other DNOs, TOs, NESO and Ofgem with regard to power system model management
  • Forge a positive working relationship with internal stakeholders, fostering collaboration across disciplines
 
 
 
 
 
Requirements
  • Degree qualification in electrical engineering or relevant previous experience will be considered for this role
  • You will have a proven record of accomplishment as a senior manager in power system modelling environment with experience preferred in a regulated network modelling environment
  • You will have a proven track record of both steady state and dynamic power system studies and modelling
  • Be able to model and power system studies with regard to different generator and network assets
  • Have experience of engagement with the National Grid Electricity System Operator and or other transmission owners or distribution owners in the UK
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills when reporting, negotiating, or dealing individually with stakeholders and direct reports
  • A high standard of written and oral English, with the ability to describe and provide clarity on power system modelling requirements to stakeholders
  • Organised individual who can multi-task and manage power system modelling tasks at any given time
  • Team management experience, developing individuals within a team
