Quantity Surveyor - Export Cable

Our client are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who will support the delivery of 2x linear onshore cable routes.
The land export cable team is responsible for delivering:
  • The landfall drill
  • Multiple complex and non-complex drills along the cable corridor
  • Open-cut trenching and topsoil reinstatement
  • 275kV and 400kV cable supply, installation, test and commissioning

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Sourcing & Procurement – Management of tendering processes, supplier relationships, and contract negotiations for major projects, utilising industry-standard contract frameworks.
  • Commercial Evaluation – Detailed assessment of supplier cost structures, including materials, labour, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
  • Inflation Management – Application of financial indices and market data to track cost fluctuations and manage budget impacts over a project’s lifecycle.
  • Internal Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement – Preparation and presentation of reports to senior leadership, supporting project and risk management initiatives.
  • Budget Management – Oversight of current and planned budgets across multiple project phases, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
  • Survey & Site Investigations:
    • Coordination of procurement and contract management for land and offshore survey campaigns.
    • Cost and claims management, including contract amendments and dispute resolution.
  • Project-Specific Procurement & Contracts – Management of procurement and contracting for specialised project components, ensuring efficient execution and compliance.
  • Development Contract Portfolio Management – Oversight of a diverse range of contracts, including feasibility studies, engineering services, environmental assessments, and supplier performance tracking.
  • Stakeholder & Interface Management – Coordination of joint activities and cost-sharing arrangements across multiple project interfaces.
  • Infrastructure Development – Evaluation of commercial opportunities for standalone contracts related to key infrastructure components.

Skills/ Experience
  • Capable of working in a collaborative and productive manner to deliver successful project team outcomes whilst positively developing other team members experience levels.
  • Experience of various procurement approaches eg: agreeing contractual cost indexation provisions, lump-sum FIDIC Yellow Book contracts, re-measurable contracts (for onshore surveys) using both standard and bespoke methods of measurement, bills of quantities.
  • Proven track record delivering high value onshore projects on time and to budget.
  • Substantial contract negotiation / delivery experience.
  • Previously assisted in the successful delivery of high value and high risk projects.
  • Experience supporting front end/early works procurement / closing of commercial agreements.
  • Experience seeing these agreements through to fulfilment and final account stages.
  • Experience in supporting claims processes with in house and external legal advisors that arise during or post project completion.
  • Recognised degree or equivalent professional qualifications and experience.
  • Good working knowledge in contract management including FIDIC, LOGIC, contracts.
  • Excellent drafting, reviewing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact successfully with executives, technical teams and senior management as well as work with demanding internal clients and external customers.
  • Able to both work independently and resourcefully as part of a wider project team whilst under pressure.
  • High ethical standards and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
