Our client is seeking an experienced EPC Lawyer to join their regional procurement team working on the drafting and negotiation of EPC contracts across the APAC region. The ideal candidate would play a pivotal role in supporting our clients onshore wind, offshore wind, solar and battery projects and would be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts across various renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with legal standards, mitigating risks, and driving successful project delivery.
 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Advice and support in respect of all projects in APAC (with particular focus on the Philippines, India, Japan and Australia) including the following:
  • Drafting, reviewing and/or negotiating project contracts, including:
  • EPC turnkey contracts
  • Split contracts (TSA + BOP etc.)
  • Multi-contract (multiple packages)
  • O&M contracts
  • Advising and supporting the relevant business teams and other internal stakeholders in relation to all legal aspects of procurement and construction activities
  • Identifying and assessing legal risks associated with the construction of renewable energy projects and making recommendations to mitigate those risks
 
Requirements
  • Native/fluent/bilingual English
  • Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 6+ years post-qualification experience (PQE) in EPC contracts
  • Knowledge and experience in drafting common law contracts (English, Singapore, Australia)
  • Demonstrated expertise in onshore and offshore wind, and solar energy projects
  • Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and contract management skills with a proven track record of handling complex EPC contracts, including FIDIC based contracts
  • Confident in negotiation and willing and able to negotiate against counterparties with a range of experience and expertise
  • Experience advising on cross-border transactions and working with international clients
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and manage relationships with external stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
