FIRST SCOTWIND PROJECT FILES FOR OFFSHORE CONSENT!
Industry NewsThe team behind West of Orkney Windfarm (Corio Generation, Total Energies and Renewable Infrastructure Development Group) have submitted their FIRST offshore consents application for the 2GW windfarm just 30kilometres west of Orkney Mainland.
The developer said that applications for offshore consent were filed only 20 months after being awarded the site in Crown Estate Scotland’s ScotWind leasing round.
The application includes documents under the Electricity Act 1989., marine licence applications under the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010, and accompanying assessments based on survey data collected over two and a half years, including the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report that has been managed through Xodus Group.
Prior to the application the developer was said to have been considering both fixed-bottom and floating foundations due to the water depth range. However, since then its been confirmed that the application states the 125 turbines will be installed on fixed foundations.
If approved by the Scottish Minister is expected to deliver first power in 2029.
