CDWE POWERS AHEAD WITH HAI LONG 2 OFFSHORE INSTALLATION IN TAIWAN

Industry News

CDWE has successfully wrapped up the first installation campaign for Hai Long 2, marking a significant milestone in the overall 1GW Hai Long offshore wind project off the coast of Taiwan.

All jacket foundations and the offshore substation (OSS) for Hai Long 2 are now in place, with the heavy lift vessel Green Jade playing a key role in executing this ambitious operation.

The scope of work also included the installation of the foundation for the Hai Long 3 offshore substation.

Situated approximately 45km to 70km off the coast of Changhua in the Taiwan Strait, the Hai Long project is divided into two phases: Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3. The Hai Long 2A wind farm has been allocated 300MW of grid-connected capacity, while the Hai Long 2B and 3 arrays secured 744MW of capacity during Taiwan's first offshore wind auction in 2018.

Operating in water depths of 35 to 55 metres and at distances of 45km to 70km offshore, Green Jade completed the installation of 111 pin piles, 37 jacket foundations, two OSS jacket foundations, and one OSS topside.

Javier Magro, Chief Executive of CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering, commented:
“A huge thank you to the Client Hai Long Offshore Wind Project team, our CDWE team members and our (local) partners and suppliers who made this achievement possible!

“Proud to have contributed continuously in delivering clean, renewable energy to Taiwan!”
