Senior Investment Manager London / Hybrid - United KingdomDue to the continuous growth of our clients business, they are currently hiring a full time Senior Investment Manager to join their team in London. The Senior Investment Manager will be responsible for our clients successful entry into large competitive onshore transmission project sector.
The transmission project sector, also known as ‘CATO’ will be tendered via a structured procurement process, and it is expected that the Senior Investment Manager would be a key member of the CATO bid team, leading investment, project finance debt and business case workstreams.
This role may also support the investment, project finance debt and business case workstream for the broader origination function and support development, delivery and operations activities relating to our clients assets. As a key member of the team, the individual needs to be commercially and financially astute, ambitious and driven. They will seek to contribute to the fast growth and success of the company, whilst ensuring that high investment management standards are maintained.
The role will report to the Investment Director who is primarily responsible for the CATO projects.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Lead development of all internal governance investment related processes including preparation of papers and presentation materials and leading key meetings as required
Identify potential equity partners, develop strong relationships and support the formalisation of contractual documents required for establishing project consortia
Establish and maintain relationships with debt financiers and lead project finance debt raising activities with the support of financial advisers as needed
Support the determination of winning bid strategies, bid structures and consortium commercial structures
Lead investment, project finance debt and business case workstreams, engaging with and managing highly experienced internal and consortium partner individuals focused on producing high-quality deliverables for all CATO projects and other work as required
Procure, select and manage financial advisers and provide oversight to all investor and debt due diligence workstreams
Actively participate in commercial and other closely related workstreams that impact the investment case, debt raising and equity more broadly
Gather bid inputs and lead on drafting certain bid documents as required
Provide investment, project finance debt and business case workstream input to bid management tools and processes including bid programme, resourcing approach and budget
Identify, manage and mitigate key risks to the investment case and equity more generally during the bid and project origination process
Create all necessary investment, debt raising and business case development procedures, processes and tools to support the CATO bidding activities including in-house financial models and standardised assumptions underpinning investment cases
Oversee project financial modelling activities with the support of financial advisers as needed
Mentor and manage junior colleagues as required
Support broader origination function, and development, delivery and operations teams as required
Education, Work Experience & Qualifications
Qualified to Degree level; Masters level and/or CFA or similar designation is preferred
Minimum 10 years professional experience in infrastructure project origination and bidding, investment, business case management and project finance debt raising within a lead equity sponsor, developer or infrastructure advisory firm ideally in the energy industry
Experience developing and managing infrastructure project finance financial models
Advanced knowledge of the commercial issues relevant to sponsors of, and investors in, complex greenfield infrastructure projects delivered with private sector funding and the interdependencies with construction and operations contractors
Industry standing and proven networking capability
Although not essential, the following would be beneficial:
Knowledge of electricity transmission sector
Previous experience in undertaking market analysis and developing well-diligence views on macroeconomic factors and economic asset revenue streams
Previous experience structuring transactions for novel and/or emerging infrastructure sectors or commercial frameworks, having regard to competitiveness, market factors and stakeholder drivers
