Authorised Technician (with Live Testing)

The Authorised Technician is responsible for providing maintenance, servicing and inspection of wind turbines, to ensure the assets are maintained in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner. An AT with live testing will have all the responsibilities of a Limited AT but will be able to undertake work , testing and troubleshooting tasks of a higher risk/complexity that will include live testing. Including use of AWP 002 Live testing shall include : mechanical, hydraulic and pressurised systems, electrical systems and WTG controller / setting changes ( to include OEM software updates) Prerequisites in addition to Limited AT status to becoming a Full AT: Electrical Fault Finding & Electrical Awareness Training Maintenance Tasks Assessed on AWP’s & ROMP’s WTSR Course (Module 2) (an asset if in possession ) Pre-authorisation Practical Assessment - (AE offshore assessment) Assessment Panel Main Responsibilities: Promote a positive safety culture, contribute to the Ops Team delivering its Health & Safety objectives. Our client is seeking a Senior Grid Simulation Engineer to support electrical design, grid integration, and power system studies for onshore and offshore wind projects across the EMEA region. The role will perform detailed simulation and modelling activities to ensure grid code compliance and optimise connection strategies for new and existing wind farm developments.   Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain grid simulation models using tools such as PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, or ETAP. Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, dynamic, transient stability, and harmonic analyses. Evaluate grid impacts of planned wind farm connections and propose mitigation or reinforcement solutions. Ensure project designs comply with applicable grid codes and interconnection requirements. Work closely with internal engineering and project teams to support seamless grid integration throughout development and execution phases.   Candidate Profile: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field. Minimum 5 years’ experience in power system modelling and grid integration for onshore or offshore wind projects. Strong proficiency in power system simulation tools (PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSS/E, or ETAP). Sound understanding of transmission systems, grid connection processes, and grid codes. Our client is seeking a Senior Grid Engineer to support grid integration activities for onshore and offshore wind projects across the EMEA region. The role will ensure grid code compliance, support grid connection applications, and coordinate with internal engineering teams and external stakeholders to secure successful grid connections.   Key Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with relevant regional grid codes and regulatory requirements. Provide technical input for grid compliance testing and power quality assessments. Engage with Transmission System Operators (TSOs), regulatory authorities, and project stakeholders to secure grid connection agreements. Assess the impact of wind farm projects on existing grid infrastructure and define mitigation measures. Fulfil the following roles in accordance with the Clients Operational Safety Rules on systems up to 400kV: Senior Authorised Person (L3) Safety Coordinator System Controller Participate in all provided training and authorisation processes to achieve and maintain required authorisations for the Vanguard Offshore Wind Farm. Support the Lead SAP with the implementation of the safety from the system process by embedding company procedures and operational instructions for both onshore and offshore activities. Train and direct other SAPs and team members on the application of the rules.  Take responsibility in ensuring Safety From The System is achieved and all required documentation is prepared and issued prior to all work commencing. Assess each job on a task by task basis. Identifying all necessary precautions. Supervise Contractors and ensure use of correct PPE, equipment and working practices. Prepare/review Method Statements and Risk Assessments for work on site. Support the Location/Responsible Manager in the development and production of all required Local Management Instructions. Fully support the Location/Responsible Manager and coordinate the necessary documentation control procedures associated with Clients Operational Safety Rules. Ensuring known status at all times. If necessary, Participate in onshore shift rotation and 24/7 callout rota during transitional phase of commissioning. Carry out Permit reviews and share lessons learnt between other sites. Ensure that the technical information provided by the Commissioning Team is sufficient to allow safe energisation and challenge where needed.  DELIVERABLES Arrange necessary Safety Documents for work on the 400kV, HVDC/OFTO and WFO plant & apparatus, working alongside National Grid Senior Authorised Persons and coordinate cross boundary activities via the Record of Inter System Safety Precaution (RISSP) process. Coordinate Senior Authorised Person tasks/activities on and offshore. Support the Location/Responsible Manager with the preparation of all site specific training, assessments and audits required for personnel to be authorised for works on the Vanguard Offshore Wind Farm. Support the Commissioning Manager with the specification and procurement of the approved tools and equipment that will be required to implement the Clients Operational Safety Rules at the Offshore Wind Farm. CERTIFICATIONS Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status within a Distribution Network Operator, National Grid or Offshore Wind Farm to 400kV. Relevant technical education, for example, time served apprenticeship or similar with a HNC qualification (or equivalent) in an electrical engineering discipline. IOSH/NEBOSH Certification. Valid National Grid Persons (Substations) certification. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Significant and demonstrable experience working in a similar capacity. Proven track record in a Client role Self-starting with planning/coordination and problem solving abilities. Good standard of IT literacy (i.e. MS Office). Ability to produce project specific documentation as required to support the project and implementation of Company procedures. Provide all standard Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) as required to perform your role.

Onshore Substation Commissioning Engineer - M&E - Lead

The role will oversee and coordinate the commissioning of the Mechanical and Electrical systems involved within the HVDC system for both onshore and offshore works. The role will oversee the technical requirements and installation on the ONS site, and will will interface with the M&E commissioning team at the overseas and the offshore commissioning team, this is to ensure that there is an aligned commissioning process throughout the HVDC system and that progress is tracked and managed. There may be limited travel overseas and offshore to engage with the commissioning team. The expectation of the role is that you are based onsite. The role will work closely with the construction teams (Contractor and Employer) and the commissioning HV Safety teams to provide a “readiness to energise” review for the systems. You will ensure that tests have been completed and issues are raised and managed. So a strong technical background is important to understand the potential issues with the equipment installed. The role will need to keep records of tests and respond to technical questions from the HV Safety Team. They will also ensure that the commissioning files for the systems are updated.  DELIVERABLES Oversee Contractor Commissioning activities at ONS sites Remote technical support to the team overseas and offshore where the commissioning activities taking place. Oversee and support Commissioning activities for the OSS for both the Yard works and offshore works Provide the overview of all commissioning activities for the HVDC system. Work with the Clients (Commissioning, Engineering and Quality) and Contractor Technical teams to respond to questions Attend SATs and manage ITPs from a technical perspective Provide training to new starters such as the O&M team Coordinate and complete the commissioning file Respond to technical questions relating to the readiness to commission Client witness and sign off of commissioning works. Investigate and report on Faults during the commissioning phase Represent Commissioning team in onshore coordination and SIMOP meetings. Support Commissioning Package Manager to ensure required onshore Commissioning procedures are available. Responsible for ensuring accurate ‘As Built’ Drawings and Commissioning Records are kept by the Subcontractor. CERTIFICATIONS Experienced in the commissioning and operation of Mechanical and Electrical equipment associated with HVDC Converter stations., Powerstation, and industrial plant. Such as: Electrical system testing and commissioning Pump and Motor Commissioning and operation Cooling systems commissioning and operation Instrumentation and control calibrations and commissioning Information Security systems Building services commissioning – HVAC etc. IOSH/NEBOSH Certification OTHER REQUIREMENTS Experience with working with Tier 1 contractors Familiarity with HV Safety Rules and their requirements GWO training to attend offshore visits for OSS – not initially required.
