FLOATING PV DEVELOPER OPENS JAPAN OFFICE

Industry News

Floating PV developer SolarDuck has established a new office in Tokyo to manage its operations in the Asia Pacific region.

East Asia and Southeast Asia present promising growth opportunities as the offshore energy sector evolves, according to the developer.

These market conditions create a compelling launchpad for offshore floating photovoltaic (OFPV) technology and SolarDuck, the company noted. Olaf de Swart, co-founder and head of business development for Asia Pacific, stated: "Asia Pacific represents a gigawatt-scale opportunity, and we are dedicated to pioneering the growth of OFPV in the region.

"We possess the technology, the footprint, and we are assembling the team to realize this vision."

SolarDuck has established a presence in both Japan and Malaysia.

The Teal demonstrator was installed successfully in record time in Tokyo Bay, a project developed with Tokyu Land Corporation at the initiative of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

Additionally, SolarDuck is collaborating closely with TNB in Malaysia on a project offshore Tioman Island.

These projects highlight significant progress and provide an ideal growth platform for OFPV and SolarDuck in the region, the company stated.

Moreover, they enable SolarDuck to strengthen relationships with partners across Asia Pacific.

To support the company's growth objectives in the region, SolarDuck is ramping up local hiring in Tokyo, it added.
