Job Description
 
Our client is seeking for an experienced and passionate Package Manager for Offshore Cable Installation and Protection Projects. The main responsibilities of the candidate will be to manage, plan, monitor, coordinate with the Client and the project team for all the aspects, including commercial and contractual issues, related to the works allocated in his/her package. The candidate should have experience at least in one the following works:
  • Offshore Laying
  • Offshore Burial (PLB, SLB, Pre-trenching)
  • Dredging
  • PLGR, Boulder Clearance, Route clearance)
  • Offshore Survey (MBES, SSS, SBP, Cable tracking)
  • Platform cable installation (pulling, terminations, testing etc.)
  • Nearshore laying
  • Nearshore Burial
  • Important Note
 
You will be handling sensitive information in terms of company’s private information and thus you will be granted a higher user security clearance. Please be aware that because of these critical duties, you will be subject to system monitoring, and supervisory evaluation to ensure continuous adherence to security clearance processes and procedures. Higher security clearance users are subject to a zero-tolerance policy for security violations.
 
Major Responsibilities
  • Deliver assigned packages of work on-time and on-budget according to the contractual and procedural constraint;
  • Define the scope of work and coordinate with procurement department in case that part of the works should be subcontracted;
  • Review possible subcontractors’ proposal and alignment with the scope of works and manage the procurement department for the subcontractor selection;
  • Promptly identify, submit, and agree Variation Orders according to the contractual time limits;
  • Lead and motivate the project team and the departments of the Company to ensure the objectives and schedule are met;
  • Manage, monitor, and update the plan of the assigned package of work with the Project Planner. Apply mitigation measures in case of delays and whenever is required;
  • Communicate and update regularly the Client;
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation in coordination with the Project Manager and the Project Director;
 
  • Communicate regularly with subcontractors involved in the package of works and keep track of their progress according to their contractual, procedural and time commitments;
  • Take part in the discussions for the term and conditions of the contract of possible subcontractors;
  • Ensure in cooperation with the Document Controller that the necessary documentation is created according to the contractual, budgetary constraints and it is delivered on time;
  • Follow and enforce strict safety regulations for all related project teams;
  • Identify and manage project risks and update accordingly the Project Director;
  • Frequent travels for meetings with the Client’s and/or Subcontractors around the world;
  • Site visits to the project areas onshore and offshore;
  • Possible stay to the project location (onshore and/or offshore) during the project execution
 
Position Requirements
 
Education & Training
  • (The extent or level of knowledge or training obtained by formal education or outside study that is necessary to achieve normal job performance and proficiency. Such knowledge is to be considered the minimum education required for performing the position responsibilities.)
  • A higher university degree in Engineering;
  • Advanced training in Project Management or a related field will be considered as an asset;
  • Proven working experience as a Package Manager/ Project Manager in major industry projects;
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively;
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices;
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle;
  • Excellent client-facing and internal;
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills;
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful;
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline;
  • Knowledge of German Language is to be considered as an extra skill;
 
Experience

  • 3-5 years of project management and related experience;
  • Other working experience in similar positions;

Work Schedule
  • The Package Manager has a schedule that flexes around the need but typically is based on a Monday-Friday 09:00 to 17:00 availability;
  • It is common for the Package Manager to work in a flexible basis to meet with needs/ deadlines;
  • Participation on meetings with Client is required;

  • The Package Manager will have to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain.

  • The Package Manager may have to manage several projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of other employees or the Division Director. The candidate may find the environment to be busy, noisy and will need organizational, time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
 
Mental Demands

  • The Package Manager may have to deal with a moderate stressful environment as there are times were is possible the colleagues/ department managers/ co-operators are acting under pressure and require immediate services.
